I was "ordained" in the life church is it legal in New York state?

I was ordained in the life church ministries to officiate in weddings, is it legal in New York state? I heard something about "Black letter law" what does that mean?

1the marriage can likely be annulled based on some cases in New York. Of course if you follow the formalities of the religion, i.e. go to meetings and have a congregation, then you may be able to have a marriage upheld. however, if you're like my friend, who went online drunk at 3AM and got ordained... that likely won't cut it. in that case, you run the risk of having it annuled or the license denied. hope that helps.
